The end of Monarchy in France happened when Louis XVI was named a citizen and he and Marie Antoinette were thrown in prison. This was a huge deal because it meant that France could finally become a republic which is what the Jacobins were fighting for. It's important to note that not everyone wanted this to happen. A lot of people thought that a constitutional monarchy would be just as good.
