In February 1933, instead of withdrawing from Manchuria, Japan invaded even more of china. After a vote on March 27th,1933 Japan left the league of nations. The next week it invaded Jehol. The league was powerless, they thought about sanctions but they were meaningless. The US and the USSR were the only ones with the resources to remove Japan but they weren't even part of the league. In the end, there was nothing the league of nations could do.
