Cyrus the Great was one of the most important factors of all of the Persian empire. At first, he was a tribal king but eventually grew sick of the Persian governing body. in 553 B.C.E., he initiated a rebellion against the overlord, and after three years was declared the Emperor of Persia. After falling ill and passing away, he left the power in the hands of his son, Cambyses. His importance was that he created the foundation of the later successful Persian Empire. (2.2)
