In 1903 Films such as 'great train robbery' were shown in nickelodeons these were film theatres which got their name from the price of 5 cent or one nickel.

Film during this time was only really used as lower class entertainment, for people who cannot afford to use theatre so during this time the only actors in film were rejected stage actors.

This is the beginning of a modern day cinema and shows the progression we make in the development of film theatres.
