Ann Patchett was born on December 2nd, 1963 in Los Angeles to parents Frank J. Patchett and Jeanne Ray. Patchett's father was a sailor in the Korean War and worked for the LAPD for over 30 years. Jeanne Ray was a nurse for most of her professional life and then went on to publish several books. She is still alive today.
