After the defeat of the Royalists against Parliamentarians allied w/ the Scots, Charles I escapes to the Isle of Wight in 1647 where he was later found then taken in for trial.

This marked the end of the Royalists, as they suffered another defeat and the people turned their anger to Charles I, claiming they could never find peace with him alive.
