In response to the stamp act the stamp act congress met. The British actions made it clear that nothing was to change with only one colony, they had to come together in order to be heard. In October of that same year representatives from 9 colonies met in New York and initially seemed to be a failure. Although it didn’t have any real results it was the first step to all the colonies coming together and eventually declaring independence.
