2 jan 1492 ano - The Spaniards conquered Granada

Descrição:

In 1491, Granada, the last Muslim stronghold in the peninsula was besieged by Catholic Monarchs, Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand's troops. From his royal tower, Muhammad XII (Granada Sultan) saw large numbers of Christian troops besieged and prepared to attack Granada. He was forced to sign a Granada handover agreement to the Christian allies. This incident occurred in November 1491.
On second January 1492, Muhammad XII of Granada surrendered the Emirate of Granada, the city of Granada and Alhambra Palace to the Castilian forces. The troops entered the Alhambra palace, raised European Christian royal flags and symbols on the walls of the palace as a sign of victory, and they also raised a flag of the cross at the tallest tower of Alhambra palace so that the people of Granada recognize who was their king at that moment. The situation was really tense, the Muslim people of Granada afraid to go out of their homes and the street was so quiet. After that, Sultan Muhammad XII was exiled from Granada.
Christians promise tolerance and peace to the Islamic community of Granada, although later they cancel the agreement. Thousands of Muslims were killed, tortured and others evacuated across the ocean to North Africa. That is the end of the Islamic civilization in Spain that has lasted more than seven centuries. The Islamic light disappeared from the mainland by expelling and losing Muslims there, then replacing with Christian immigrants occupying the area.
