A political protest named the ‘Boston Tea Party’ occurred. The American colonists, who were frustrated with the imposition of “taxation without representation” by Britain, dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor to demonstrate their outrage. This leads to Great Britain closing down the Boston Harbor, greatly hindering the colonies’ economy and playing a massive role in the motivations for the Revolutionary War.
