Versailles parade (October 5-6, 1789) a woman leaves from Paris for Versailles hoping to buy bread because it is too expensive for them to buy. They were armed with pitchforks, spears and muskets. With the drumbeat, the woman sang "bread!" Bread! -- for though the land of France is rich, the people of Paris are starving, and the king and his wife continue to eat and drink.
