The Battle of Stalingrad was a successful Soviet Union defense of the city of Stalingrad against Nazi Germany. The Soviet Union was not prepared for this scale of an attack but responded accordingly and, after 5 grueling months, defeated the German army. The Soviet Union relocated its industrial plants to the East to make sure that they would not be damaged. Under the command of Joseph Stalin and his generals, the Soviet Army successfully defeated the German Army. This battle was one of the bloodiest battles in the history of World War Two with over two million casualties. At the end of this battle, Hitler was humiliated.
