31 maio 1897 ano - JJ Thompson (1897 AD)
Descrição:
Sir JJ Thompson (AD 1856-1940) was a British physicist. In 1897, he used a vacuum of sorts on air and other gasses to determine the nature of Cathode Rays. Thompson observed that the rays were made out of a particle, and that these particles were the same for all gasses and regardless of the metal used as conductors. He called these particles "corpuscles," and over the next three years, through testing other substances, such as hot metal, concluded that all elements contained these "corpuscles." Thompson's corpuscles are now known as electrons.
Thompson formulated the "Plum Pudding Model" or an atom, where the pudding is the positively charged atom, and the plums are negatively charged electrons. His model showed the atom as an equally distributed substance.
His vacuum also became a precursor for telivision.
