Descrição:

Magnetophon was the brand/model name of the reel-to-reel tape recorder developed by engineers of the German electronics company AEG in the 1930s, based on the magnetic tape invention by Fritz Pfleumer. AEG created the first practical tape recorder the ‘K1’, showed off at the Berlin Radio Show in 1935. The Germans made advances to this new technology during the war, and when the war was over the Americans discovered two devices in Frankfurt one being the new oxide coated PVC tape developed by I.G. Farben and the other was the AC bias system. The officer Jack Mullin, would use these devices as the basis of his own designs which he demonstrated to the San Francisco Institute of Radio Engineers in May 1946, in the audience was Ampex engineers who were inspired to create their own reel-to-reel tape based on Jack Mullins modified design.
