16 set 1934 ano - Great Banana Protest
Descrição:
Times have been hard for the small nation of Costa Rica as the American depression has ruined most of its nascent economy and whilst the German ZKG happily agreed to take over some of the United Fruit Company assets, the little nation has endured multiple large strikes culminating in the 1934 Great Banana Protest when 100,000 Costa Ricans took to the streets against the exploitative nature of the firm and the terrible working conditions provided by the company. Slow reaction by the government and a harsh crackdown by the UFC lead to the breakup of the strike with the UFC branding all participating organisations syndicalists, and thus a threat to the government.
