Critics praise his work from the 1920-23 period but after 1923 his work becomes stranger and stranger until his disappearance in 1926. It is unknown (to the public) whether the artist continued to work after 1924, Though proficient in execution, Pickman's post-1923 works have little market value-except to certain collectors.
