In October 1967, Huey p. Newton, one of the leaders of the Black Panther party, was charged with 1st degree murder. This took the Black Panther party to international heights and the “Free Huey” movements moved throughout the country, fighting and working to get Huey Newton out of trouble. This event was important in shaping the final movements of the Black Panther party for years to come.
