At the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., on August 28th, 1963 the African American civil rights movement reaches its climax when Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke to about 250,000 people attending the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. The demonstrators were from all walks of life in America and really showed the unity of the country now through the civil rights movement. The demonstration talked about ending all of the segregation in the United States and Martin Luther King Jr. having a dream that the country will one day be completely united together as one. Martin Luther died a couple of years after this when he was shot by a gunman.
