The HUAC was formed on May 26, 1938 during the Cold War era in the United States and stood for the House of Unamerican Activities Committee that was created in response to the communist activity allegations that had been brought up in the United States. The committee established that they would be allowed to call in citizens to testify before Congress about whether or not they were associated with being involved in Communist activities. The HUAC along with McCarthyism sparked fear among all citizens of the United States about whether or not they could trust the government or if the government was breaching their privacy.
