On March 29th, 1972, the Black Panthers host the Black Community Survival Conference in the Oakland Civic Auditorium. During the conference, ten thousand bags of groceries, filled with canned goods, packaged goods, and 4-pound chickens, are given away. This is symbolic of the positive impact on the community that the Panthers had.
