Causes:
-The reservation was unsuitable for farming.
-The government failed to pay some of their annuities.
-In 1861, disease spread through all their crops and the government annuity didn't arrive. The tribe began to starve.
-The Indian Agent refused to give out food despite having a full storehouse full.

Events:
-4 men killed 5 white settlers and this triggered Little Crow to attack the next day.
-They stole food and killed over 700 settlers and soldiers.
-The government responded by sending reinforcements and Little Crow surrendered.

Consequences:
-Those who had evidence that they had murdered or raped were sentenced to death.
-The remainder of the tribe were forced onto a smaller reservation that was worse than the previous one.
