In 1937 FDR attempted to pack the Supreme Court. He tried to add 6 young liberal justices, ensuring that many, if not all of his bills would be passed. Many politicians saw what was going on, recognizing that FDR was only trying to help pass his new deal. Because of this, they shut it down.
