At a lunch counter in Greensboro, 4 students from North Carolina College sat down and refused to move when requested. They knew that the laws prohibited them to sit where they were, but as a form of protest, they peacefully and nonviolently refused to move. This protest became city wide news and hundreds of students began to join them in this protest.
