On January 20th, 1961, John F. Kennedy was officially sworn in as president of the United States. He was the first Catholic president and the youngest to be elected. Delivered in Washington D.C, Kennedy's inaugural address was one that inspired hope and confidence in the American people. This speech also gave way to one of Kennedy's most famous quotes:

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."

In his speech President Kennedy made clear to everybody watching that he would help carry the country to a better place. He was very well liked for his charismatic personality and the incredible speech delivered at his inauguration increased his popularity even further.
