Mark the identity of clans and were used when dismissing the dead. Made to be used once then destroyed. Symbolic of important things like kinship, fish and birds, and more. Often alluded to their clan through an obscure allusion. Whenever a piece is bought, the seller can no longer use that design therefore they are very good for identifying clans. They were made from wood, pigment, fiber and shells. They were located in Papa New Guinea, Oceania.
