Malcolm X was assassinated on February 21, 1965 in New York City. He was a well known minister throughout his life and a big civil rights activist. He was also the leader of the Nation of Islam in the 1950's and 1960's. He advocated for self-defense and liberation for African Americans. He was shot and killed by Thomas Hagan, and died at age 38.
