Kennedy orders troops into Birmingham, Alabama to protect the African Americans who were in danger of violent acts. Kennedy ordered the troops because violence was heated, and was getting out of hand in Birmingham. Governor George Wallace was not in favor of letting African American students register for an all white school, and this started the violence that took place on May 13th.
