In March of 1965, activists walked from Selma to Montgomery, protesting about the need for a equal voting act that would allow African Americans the right to vote. Throughout the walk, the protesters faced violence and danger, however the National Guard protected them in their final stretch, where they reached their goal to end in Montgomery.
