In Atlanta, Georgia, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference was developed and founded. This nonprofit organization had president Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who was a major influence during the time of the civil rights movement. The SCLC organized protests across cities with the use of peaceful protest and the acts of nonviolence.
