This Supreme Court case struck down laws banning interracial marriage in the United States. The case revolved around Richard and Mildred Loving, a white man and black woman whose marriage was counted as illegal according to the state laws in Virginia.
With the help of the ACLU, the Lovings appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. This case is often cited as a dismantling of the Jim Crow Laws.
