29 jun 1767 ano - Townshend Acts

Descrição:

The Townshend Acts , proposed by Charles Townshend, included a series of smaller taxes on other items used by the colonists, such as glass, paper, and tea. While the acts were intended to be insignificant, but profitable nonetheless, they bothered the colonists, who saw them only as more British regulations and fees: taxation without representation. The royal purpose of the Townshend Acts was to help pay Royal Governors and judges in the colonies, which made the colonists even angrier. The British also believe these taxes would benefit the colonists by providing more economy to increase protection in the colonies. The colonists, did believe that the taxes being used for trade were now being used for revenue, thus creating revolts and disputes against this tax.
