Alvin C York was born on December 13, 1887 and he died on September 2, 1964. He is most famous for his help in WW1. He earned the Medal of Honor on October 8, 1918 for taking over a German machine gun. He was declared a national hero by many allies of the United States at the time. He used his fame for the good of the people. He used it to help support his church and to fund Alvin C York Institute, which is a high school in his home town of Pall Mall, Tennessee. His farm are still preserved today as a State Historic Site. He is still recognized as an American Hero and Patriot of the United States.
