Le premier ambassadeur qu’Aruj envoya de Tunis à Istanbul fut un célèbre corsaire nommé Muhyiddin Reis en 1514.
Il eut une audience avec le sultan ottoman, bénéficia de ses faveurs et revint avec deux nouvelles galères construites à Istanbul.
