After a big ceremony the Graland officially launched on it's maiden flight on June 18th, 3169.
On board was a mixed crew of 13 scientists and 10 sailors from the Sol Fleet, under the command of captain Jessah Toering.

The combination of the new shielding and the redesigned hull shape proved far more effective than any testing had predicted. What was supposed to be a small test jump to the orbit of Neptune became a giant one of nearly 2 light years.
(Later it was found out that, after seeing the effectiveness of the drive, the senior crew unanimously decided to extend their first test).

As suddenly as it vanished from the orbital dockyard around Jupiter, it re-appeared only 2 hours later.

The message of their first successful jump would not arrive for another 8 days.
