In the early 16th Century, the Ottoman Empire was in a period of large expansion as they gradually extended their boarders in every direction. From the Balkan Peninsular, the various sultans dominated Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, and much of the East Coast of the Adriatic Sea. From 1514 Ottoman forces managed to take northern Iraq, as well as heading south conquering Syria, Israel, and even Egypt.
