Roosevelt's Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine was announced in 1904.

The original Monroe Doctrine (1823) warned European nations not to interfere in the affairs of the Americas.
Roosevelt's Corollary extended this, stating that the United States had the right to intervene in Latin American countries if there was instability, mismanagement, or if European powers were threatening to intervene.


It justified U.S. intervention in Latin American countries to maintain stability and prevent European influence.
This policy greatly increased U.S. control and influence in the Western Hemisphere during the early 20th century.
