Between 1953 and 1954, U.S. interfered in Japan’s politics to secure its influence in the region during the Cold War.
It was important becaus U.S. helped Japan recover after WWII, providing protection so Japan could rebuild its economy. For U.S., it gained a key ally in Asia during the Cold War, helping stop the spread of communism. The U.S. kept military bases in Japan, giving it power in the region.
However, the U.S. involvement wasn’t really peaceful. Violence from U.S. troops, like riots or crimes, sometimes caused tension between the them during this time.
