Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he will not recognise the outcome of any negotiations in which his country is not a party.

His comments came as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is set to hold talks with US officials in Saudi Arabia on ending the nearly three-year war in Ukraine.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is already in Saudi capital for the talks, which are meant to precede a possible meeting this month between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

European Union leaders are holding an emergency summit in Paris to discuss Trump’s plans to end the war amid fears the bloc – and even Ukraine – would be left out of the negotiations.
