Austrian zoologist Konrad Lorenz publishes his theory of "imprinting", a behavior found throughout a wide variety of young animals. He discovered this through studying baby ducks and geese as he watched them imprint on virtually anything he put in front of them, from alive to inanimate, as long as it was one of the first moving objects the baby saw.
