 - The Indian National Conference was primarily organized by Surendranath Banerjee and Ananda Mohan Bose. The first session was held in Kolkata (Calcutta) from December 28 to 30, 1883. 
- This initiative was prompted by the introduction of the Ilbert Bill, which sought to allow Indian judges to try British defendants, highlighting the growing political awareness among educated Indians
- In 1886, the conference merged with the Indian National Congress, further solidifying its role in India's struggle for independence
