The Japanese military ambushes Pearl Harbor, causing the US to scramble to defend themselves. This ends up being one of the reasons that the US joins World War 2, and it causes mass discrimination against Japanese Americans, since they are seen as part of the country that ambushed America.

Because of this mass discrimination, a couple of months later President Roosevelt signs Executive Order 9066. This forces thousands of Japanese Americans out of their homes using the American military and into internment camps, where they are forced against their will to stay. This was said to be done for their safety, since Americans living on the West Coast had started attacking Japanese Americans, blaming them for Pearl Harbor and World War 2. In reality, these internment camps were horrible places to be, and it caused thousands of Japanese Americans to be punished for something they didn’t do.
