On December 18th, 1989, the Army finished decontaminating the Reston Primate Quarantine Unit. They carefully cleaned every room, going to the lengths of euthanizing the majority of the monkeys, taking out the floor tiles, and stripping the rooms of their paint. It was never fully decided if the sickness at the facility was Ebola or not.
