The Nintendo Switch was released on March 3rd 2017, and did extremely well upon release, and even now. The Nintendo Switch is considered the first hybrid console, meaning it can be played both handheld or connected to a TV/monitor. It was supposedly created to recover from the financial loss they suffered due to the Wii U, and to compete with the Xbox One and the Playstation 4, which were both surpassed by the Switch. As of today, the Nintendo Switch remains the 3rd best selling console of all time, sitting at 146.04 million units sold.
