The Albany Plan of Union, proposed around the year 1754, mainly proposed that the new American colonies should have a “pact” or Treaty that would guarantee the safety and protection of all colonies in North America. In essence, this pact would ensure the unity between the new American Colonies and even allow them to be semi-autonomous from British rule. Of course, the colonial power would not agree to this, and eventually, the proposal was rejected. Yet this proposal laid the groundwork for unity across the colonies of North America and eventually the American Revolution.
