On July 4, 1776, The Revolutionary leaders signed the Declaration of Independence. It was signed during the Second Continental Congress and during that Congress not only was the Declaration of Independence signed, but also George Washington was put as the leading general of the Revolutionary War. The American Declaration of Independence reflects the Ideals of the American public which came from Philosophers like John Locke, Who believed in the natural right of life, liberty, and property among many other things. Thomas Jefferson was eventually handed the task of writing the first official draft and document of the declaration, kick-starting the American Revolution.
