Description:
-Escherichia coli is a bacterium
-Commonly found in the lower intestine of warm blooded organisms
-Can cause serious food poisoning
-Transmission through the fecal oral route (cdc.gov)
-In 1885, thee German pediatrician Theodor Escherich discovered this organism
-1996 the worlds worst outbreak killed 20 people in Wishaw, Scottland
