3. Nanjing Massacre

Description:
After Japanese troops already moved in and captured Shanghai, the next target was the new capital, Nanking. Despite the Chinese soldiers surrendering, Japanese soldiers raped and killed between 200 000 and 300 000 people. This event best showcases how far the Japanese imperialist military would go during the Second Sino-Japanese War. ("Rape Of Nanking - Crime Museum")
