Townshend Acts (jun 15, 1767 – apr 2, 1770)
Description:
The Townshend Acts were a series of acts passed by Parliament on 1767. The Townshend Acts taxed imported goods. This made the colonists angry, and Britain began losing control of Boston. In order to gain control, the British sent 2,000 British troops to Boston. With this tension became very thick between the colonists and the British soldiers. This led to the Boston Massacre, and (ironically) on the same day the Townshend Acts were repealed. All except for taxes on tea was repealed.
