Embargo Act (jan 1, 1807 – dec 31, 1809)
Description:
After the attack on the Chesapeake Bay, the US didn't want to go to war this early into their independence, so they discontinued all trade between them and the countries in Europe. They decided that stopping trade would cause the other countries to suffer. In the end, though, the US was suffering because they were our main suppliers. They repealed the Act in 1809 due to their financial downfall.
