Whiskey Rebellion (jan 1, 1794 – dec 31, 1794)
Description:
Under Washington's presidency, Congress passed a law that taxed the production of whiskey. American farmers were frustrated because they make money off of selling whiskey, lowering their profit. They started fighting the tax collectors by stopping court sessions, robbing post offices' mail, and physically harassing them. Washington realized what was happening, so he sent troops to western Pennsylvania. The troops were able to scare off the rebels quickly ending the rebellion.
