Pope Urban VI (apr 8, 1318 – oct 15, 1389)
Description:
Roman Catholic Pope from 1378 to 1389. He was the last Pope to be elected from outside the College of Cardinals and his papacy was marked by conflict and division within the Catholic Church. His reign began shortly after the end of the Avignon Papacy, and was followed by the Western Schism, where many in Europe recognized a rival pope, Clement VII, based in Avignon.
